CoveredMeds

Company Description:

CoveredMeds was developed by the Director of Pharmacy at an FQHC in Southern California. Despite a rise in new therapies for diabetes and asthma, he noticed that most patients were still being prescribed older and less effective medications. The reason – providers don’t know which drugs are covered by their patients’ insurance plans at the time the prescription is written.

Product Overview:

CoveredMeds is a clinical decision-support software tool that combines the latest treatment algorithms for diabetes, asthma, and COPD with options from insurance plans throughout the country. In a clear and concise user interface, CoveredMeds suggests to healthcare providers which medications to prescribe and in what order. CoveredMeds is a web-based application designed to seamlessly integrate into provider/clinic workflow. An embedded link can be placed anywhere in your Health Center’s EMR to allow one-click access (no login required) and minimize toggling between systems.

Value Proposition:

  • Significantly improve clinical outcomes for your patients with uncontrolled diabetes and asthma/COPD by prescribing better therapies
  • Increase prescriber confidence and save time for your staff by eliminating prior authorizations and third-party rejections at the pharmacy
  • Realize dramatic 340B cost-savings for your Health Center
  • Improve UDS measures, allowing your Health Center to earn higher incentives through HRSA Health Center Quality Improvement Awards

Customer Testimonials:

“Before we started using CoveredMeds, less than 15% of our diabetic patients were on the newer, higher recommended medications. Now, 66% of our patients are treated with these new medications, and their A1c’s are falling dramatically!”
– Kristine Corrasco, PharmD at La Maestra Family Clinic

“CoveredMeds is our go-to resource for road-mapping our patients’ therapies. We know what to prescribe and in what order to maximize our patients’ outcomes.”
– Craig Steinberg, RPh, Pharmacy Director at Borrego Health
